Orthopedic Surgery
In West Bloomfield, MI at Animal Hospital Maple Orchard we are performing orthopedic surgery daily. We have certifications for surgery that is specialized for your pet’s injury. Those surgeries include TPLO, Medial Luxating Patella, Lateral Suture (MRIT), FHO (hip surgery), and fracture repair.
If your pet needs orthopedic surgery then please call the front desk to coordinate a consultation prior to the day of surgery.
The surgery schedule starts early for our patients and drop off is at 7 am. You can review our website here to learn what to expect and how to prepare.
We perform surgery between 8 am and 2 pm. Our patients are monitored and kept safe before and after surgery, until your furry friend is back with their pet parents. We will touch base with you, the owner, directly after surgery to let you know how everything went and answer any questions you may have.
We are typically discharging our orthopedic patients around 6 pm and coordinating with you the details of the recovery process. This includes medications, laser therapy, and radiographs depending on your pets surgery.
Depending on the surgery the orthopedic cost can vary quite a large amount. We recommend making an appointment to help clarify if your pet is a good candidate and what the best solution is for you.

Worried About Cost?
- TPLO: We pride ourselves in being one of the most competitive surgery centers in Michigan! The price ranges from $3000-$4500 depending on your dogs size!
- FHO: Surgery for a hip problem? We perform FHO surgeries with total bills being around $3000.
- Lateral Suture: Dogs under 40 lbs can have this surgery done. It is a cheaper but not as stable as a TPLO. This surgery typically costs $2500 per case.
- Fractures & Other Surgery’s : This has a lot of variability according to difficulty. Please call for more clear answers from our DVM!
